Ignorance Is Bliss

There's a Japanese restaurant that opened up a few years ago across the street from my house in the shopping center. It was a small but cozy little place, was never too crowded, great prices, and the sushi portions were huge. It didn't take long for word to spread about how good this place was, and it was already my favorte place to grab a spicy tuna roll or four. I was in sushi bliss for about 6 months...taking my friends to eat there and even ordering delivery even though it was 2 mins away. Then came the news...

My brother Prom had taken his girlfiend (now my sister-in-law) to eat there one night. Everything was fine until out of their food... crawled a cockroach. A stinkin' COCKROACH!!

The first thing that ran through my mind was, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" My heart sunk. Not because I was afraid that I probably ate countless roaches in my 6 month sushi-eating frenzy, I was more upset at the fact that because of this one story, I should not...could not eat sushi there ever again! I tried to fight it, telling myself that since it didn't happen to me, I could still eat there. My love for this one restaurant was so great, I was willing to sacrifice my health for some good, cheap sushi. But there was no hope. I had to stop eating there. My brother told everybody his story and if word got out that I still ate there, I would've been called "disgusting", "sick", and even "stupid". So I had to give it up.

Everytime I eat sushi, I always think about that restaurant and wish my brother never told me that story. If he didn't, I'd probably still be eating there today. Who am I kidding? I ordered from there a few weeks ago and no, there were no cockroaches. Whew.
