"Everyday is like...Sunday"
I think Palak put it best when she said, "PZ! It's like you lead two lives. Crazy dancer at night, IT guy by day!" It's true though. It's funny how my work has absolutely nothing to do with my other life- my dancer life. What do 8 counts have to do with Outlook? Are ball changes and body rolls in any way related to rebooting and reinstalling? I think not.
Friday GSNY and I drove down to DC again for an amazing event. It's called Bustagroove. Bustagroove is a dance show/competition that started out in California. Hosted by Culture Shock, an AMAZING dance group that has chapters across the nation and abroad, Bustagroove has been the venue for Cali's best hip hop dance groups to showcase their talents. I've seen videos from past Bustagrooves and as an active member of funKtion, I always wanted to get to that level and compete at the next year's Bustagroove. That never happened. Lo and behold, this year, Culture Shock DC started the first ever Bustagroove on the EAST COAST. Now a member of GSNY, we heard the news, submitted the app, sent our footage, and got in!
We got there and it was amazing. So many dance groups from all over the east coast came and represented. Culture SHocks from all over the country came to showcase their stuff. And the great thing was that there was no hating each other even though some groups were competing. Every group showed love to every other group. When a group performed and came back to the green room, those still waiting or done performing applauded the returning performers. Like, we all clapped for everyone! As cheesy as it may sound, I thought it was an amazing experience being around so many talented people that share the same passion for dance as we did. Too bad I definitely had one of my most lackluster of performances...
8 hours later I'm answering the phone and saying, "IBD Support, Pierre speaking". The users proceeds to go on and on about how this doesn't work or that doesn't work, expecting me, the dancer, to not only be able to be sharp, on beat, and finish my moves (not that they know I can do those things), but to also tell them where to find nice wallpapers for their desktop!
Maybe there's a IT-dancer support group somewhere...
