Start: 1:33 am September 17, 2003

The gates to my driveway were open, half blocking the sidewalk that runs in front of my house. My '95 Civic and I turned in on 133rd Place, steering clear of the open gates and parked, leaving space between my front bumper and the garage door so my mother can walk as she waters her flowers every morning before work. Pet Shop Boys were playing on the system so I left it playing, as I usually do if it's mid-track, until the end of the track (about 10 seconds) while I grabbed my things. One of these things was the movie, "Bowling for Columbine", a great movie that Amy and I watched at her house just hours earlier. After the song ended, I got out of the car and took a nice deep breath of the cool night air- my way of making up for the other 10 hours I spent indoors reflooring the kitchen with my dad, and sending resumes during the water breaks. I closed the gates and noticed the WANING moon (Astronomy 101 coming into play) and all the stars surrounding it. Not recognizing any of the constellations, I made a mental note to look up the star charts in my Astro textbook to refresh my memory. Still staring up at the unusually starry sky over NYC, I walked up the short walkway that leads up to my front door, opened up the screen door and held it open with my left foot. It took about 5 seconds to find the right key that unlocks the one lock that has been keeping the bad guys out for 40 years. Slowly opening my door so not to wake up my mom, I took off my shoes and right then, the thought of blogging sounded like a great idea. With that thought still fresh in my mind, I headed down into the basement, took a leak, changed into some shorts, and sat at my computer.
