There I was...

There I was...sitting there ALONE on one of Six Flags Great Adventure's signature rollercoasters wondering, "How did I get myself in this situation?" . That's right, I was riding The Great American Scream Machine (GASM) by my lonesome self. As the long, hot, and sweaty day was coming to an end, we all thought that Superman, Great Adventure's all new ride, would be a good way to end the day. Sadly, the line had a 5 hour wait, dousing any hope of a final run. While some of us were in the bathroom, Charlie and Chur decided to head over to GASM which had no wait at all. The girls went off and rode some girly ride whlie Dan, Sam, and I waited for the other two guys who still hadn't come back after about 20 minutes. Not being able to wait any longer, I ran into the ride to see what was taking so long. When I got to the seating area, the two of them were on the front seat line, ready to get on the next train. Once they got on and left me there, I thought to myself, "Well I'm here, might as well go on by myself." And that's what I did. It was quite an experience. I felt like my only friend was that steel monster of a coaster that was gonna take me on the ride of my life. I didn't scream because there was nobody to scream for or with. I just sat there, going through the twists and turns, looking around. Quite an experience.

There I was...DRIVING home at 6am. Sunlight was quickly filling up the sky while I had my fun in the dark depths of a club called Halo. After a great night of dancing, drinking, and chillin at the club, it was time to drive home- by myself. While my ears still rang from the loud music, I thought I'd turn on the radio and listen to Z100's morning show. To my surprise, "Name" by the Goo Goo Dolls was playing. This was one of my favorite songs back in the day and it's RARELY played on the radio nowadays. (By the way, GGDs aren't one my favorite bands and Name is the only song that I genuinely like by them.) As the song played, I pleasantly reminisced about the time that song was huge...about 1995-1996? Thinking about ski trips with my brother and cousin, mountain biking in Saxon Woods, and rollerblading in Central Park. After the song ended, I had that warm feeling inside you get when you're reminded of the easier times in your life. Still on that little high, I switched to 95.5 and what was playing? That's right...NAME by GGDs. Once again that warm fuzzy feeling inside took over, ending what was a great night out on the town.

There I was...standing in PITCH BLACK darkness, with my RAZOR in hand. A couple weeks ago my block suffered a blackout, probably from a blown transformer because of all the ACs running in every house. Since it was so hot, I thought I'd take a shower- in the DARK! It was actually pretty fun. The showering wasn't the hard part though, it was the shaving that was. Standing in front of my mirror and not able to see anything, I felt around for my shaving cream, gave it a shake, and started to spray some onto my fingertips. The problem was, was that I couldn't FEEL how much shaving cream was on my hands. Giving a couple more squirts for good measure, I started to lather up my face. Only then did I realize how much cream was in my hands and before I knew it, half my face was covered in a layer of shaving cream a half inch thick. Then there was the actual shaving which was pretty tricky to say the least. You don't realize how helpful a mirror is when shaving until you don't have one. It was as if my hand coordination was JUST a bit off, making it a little freaky when the razor blade touched my face. But in the end, I got the job done. My house finally got electricity back at 6pm the next day.

There I was...looking at my hands that were COVERED in my own BLOOD. Central Park's Sheep's Meadow is a great place to just chill, toss a frisbee, and play in the sun. After gathering about 20 or so Michigan people to go to the meadow, I decided to practice my new talent- back flipping. With a couple spotters, I got a couple good flips in. Then, my boy Dann (two N's) who has no sense of fear for his body, wanted to try it for himself. So with me as a spotter, I gave him the general tips to flipping and after a few trial flips, Dann was ready to do it again. With me by his side, he gave the counts and on 3, he jumped and I guess I leaned in and got CLOCKED by his swinging left arm. (this is where you gasp) I was hit in my nose. I turned away and automatically felt for some blood and sure enough, gallons of blood came gushing out. Using my hands, I tried to stop the blood, leaving my hands a bloody mess. Was it broken? I still don't know. But I have to say that this was definitely the low point of a fun-ass day. BUT, after clocking me and without any of my assistance...Dann landed on his feet.

DISCLAIMER- These are the events of my life, unimbellished, and completely factual.
