Alas, Komposit's reign at Blind Pig has come to an end.
Bringing the only true hip hop parties onto campus, Komposit faithfully fed everyone's hunger for bumpin', grindin', get-off-your-ass-and-dance PARTYING every other Thursday night at the Blind Pig. Sadly, last night was the last Komposit party to be held at the Blind Pig, and news of the DJ group's eventual break-up next semester hits my heart where it really hurts. But I'm grateful that I was actually here to expeience them in all their glory. Next year's incomming freshmen will only hear stories/legends of all the great parties that Komposit threw during their 5 year reign on this campus. Will someone step up next year and bring it like Komposit did at every party? Let's all hope for the sake of the youngins that someone does...
Last night was oodles of fun to say the least. At 9 o'clock, we (funKtion) had a performance at the Zeta Sigma Chi Multicultural Step Show. Although the crowd SEEMED smaller than last years, it was still a great one. Like Scottie (Scooby) said, there's nothing like having a hyped crowd yelling and screaming your name, and then getting a standing ovation at the end. For me, performing on stage is a release from the stresses of school, it's an adrenaline rush, it's a drug...and I am, and have been, addicted.
After our performance, I bumped into my friend/acquaintence from freshman year. I met Liz way back then at a Chinese Christian Fellowship meeting (I think). We never really hungout or talked since then, until now. So I bumped into her, made some small talk, and then invited her to come out to the Blind Pig. She was like, "Well I have a meeting until 10, but I'll give you a call when i'm done."....meaning..."I'll just be nice and say I'll call you later, but I really won't because I don't know any of your friends so the chances of me going alone to party with you and a bunch of strangers is slim to NONE." Well, that's how I interpreted what she said haha. But surprisingly enough, she called, she came out, and had a great time (I think) with me and my dancer buddies.
It's all about rekindling old friendships and starting new ones these days.
U of Illinois awaits the arrival of 2XS and funKtion. We're about to tear it up down there this weekend...fun times.
