Temperatures are dropping and those cool, breezy days are becoming more frequent. Kids are scarmbling to have fun before the summer ends and dreading the day when school begins. For me, since I don't have school anymore, the only thing for me to look forward to this fall is...Michigan Wolverine Football.Nothing gets me going like Michigan Football these days. Yes I still love my Yankees, Knicks, Giants, and so on, but there's something about Michigan football and College Football in general that gets my blood pumping.I love how each game can mean so much. I love how a single loss can mean the difference between a BCS title or a failed season. I love it because when the stakes are this high, watching each game is like a fight for survival. In this day and age of free agency where pro players are holding out for the team with the biggest contract, College Football has none of that. When a high school player commits to a college football program, chances are they'll be a Wolverine, a Hurricane, or a Sooner for their entire college career and the rest of their life. There's pride, love, and passion when these kids step onto the field. When a Michigan Wolverine lines up across from an Ohio State Buckeye (I just cringed while typing those last three words), you can feel the hatred between them. That, my friends, is what college football is all about. Then there's my team...the University of Michigan Wolverines. A great school with one of the greatest football programs in the nation. When I stepped onto campus for the first time, I could feel the amount of pride the town had in their school and their football team. Banners and flags of the Michigan "M" hung from every building and lamp post, and thousands would journey down State Street to the Big House every saturday to watch 11 yellow-horned helmets line up against their opponents that week. It's safe to say that it didn't take long before my blood turned from red to Maize and Blue. Ah the maize and blue...a color combination recognized everywhere in the world as Michigan colors. And you can't forget "Hail to the Victors", probably one of the most recognized college fight songs ever written.Well it's that time of year again and this time, I'm donning my brand new Michigan football jersey. And since I bought Amy a jersey too (even though she went to Binghamton), we are prepared for the season ahead. It's great...to be...a Michigan Wolverine!! (repeat 4x)
