For you New Yorkers...

I'm on the 7 train on my way to work. Today I'm standing because I caught the train right before it left Main St. When you're forced to stand on the train, the best spots to stand are right in front of the doors so you can lean back against them. This is a widely known fact, so these spots in front of the doors are fairly coveted. There I am, leaning against my door and relaxing when the train stops at Junction Blvd and my door opens. Since I'm in front of the door, I move in to the car a little bit so that there's room for the other passengers to get through...leaving my door spot wide open. And of course, this one guy takes advantage of my courtesy and slips into my spot! Doesn't he know that it's my spot and that I'm just temporarily vacating it so that he can get through? No respect, no courtesy, no manners, no morals! While all of these thoughts go running through my head, I'm standing there sandwiched between two short latino women, one of which decides to lean on me for support.

And that's how I lost my door spot.
