There is a new phenomenon that is all the rage amongst my friends back home. NOt so much here in Michigan, but definitely on the East Coast.
As we here have the Blogging community, there is a new community that is on the rise- a community that seems to be equally and maybe even more popular than the blogging community. This new problem, enemy, disease that we face today goes by one name- Xanga.
Is Xanga really new? Probably not. But it's new to me. But newer doesn't mean it's better. I came across Xanga for the first time when my friend Amy (NY amy) posted a link to her xanga site in her AIM profile. This is the same Amy which i tried to convert to blogging at the beginning of the school year but of course she disregarded my idea (as always) and said, "i don't want people to read what i write." The next thing i know, she starts a xanga page...sheesh! But anyways...i checked out her page expecting some spectacular website that would be visually stimulating and at the same time have blogging (xanga-ing) capabilites far greater than that of Blogger. What i found wasn't what i expected at all. Graphics are generic and boring and the "comment" area is confusing and difficult to use...AND only accessable to Xanga members, making it quite useless to me. Don't get the wrong idea, i'm not just hating on Xanga because i Blog. Objectively speaking, Xanga is just far inferior to Blogger, that's all haha!
Nonetheless, Xanga is gaining popularity and it is up to us Bloggers to convert all xanga-ers to Blogger...so who's with me!?
