Have you ever met up with an old friend you've known your entire life but you haven't seen for like 6 years, and when you talk to them again it's like talking to them for the firs ttime??

I was a SHY child...shy beyond all belief. Some of you might know the whole story of my "blossoming" experience, but bascially i didn't start talking until Junior Year high school....yeah i'm a late bloomer. And as i've recorded in this blog, i've reconnecting with a lot of old friends.....friends that i've had for most of my life. Some of these friends i haven't seen for YEARS....before i ever started talking socially (i just talked out of necessity basically....."where's the bathroom..thanks" ). And when i hungout with these old friends this summer, i felt as if i'm talking (REALLY talking) to them for the first time in my life. But it's strange because i know a lot about them (they talked to me) but they didn't know me too well. Let me illustrate with an example....

When i was a kid, i used to go to Thai Summer School where thai kids born in nyc would go and learn how to read, write, and speak Thai (buddhism was also taught). The ages ranged from 5 to like 15 or 16. The early years of thai school, i was only like 5 or 6 years old. NOt to brag, but ALL the older girls loved me haha. I was the cute kid that all the girls played with.....AHHHH those were the times. LOL ANyways...back to the story....there was this one girl named Cathy that used to ALWAYS take care of me. She would walk me to the lunch room, take care of me when i hurt myself, etc etc....FAST FORWARD about 14 years to this summer.....and the last time i saw her was about 6 years go at a Thai Function (not funKtion). I got invited to a 4th of July BBQ and lo and behold, Cathy was there! Amazingly she recognized me- bald head, goatee (fu man chu...whatever), and all. So i sit down and talk to her (a LOT of reminiscing of course), and since i was so small the last time i saw her, i never really had a mature conversation with her....until then....and it was GREAT. Although i'm taller and bigger than her now, she still loves to take care of me like i'm a kid. We recently went to Six Flags together and had a great time even though it rained. Hmmm..thinking about it just makes me all warm inside haha.....getting with old friends is a great great thing. =)

I've had a few of these "first-time" conversations this summer....Laura, my elementary school best friend, a bunch of family friends, and even some HS friends. And tongiht i'm having dinner with some more old Thai School friends....but they were my age though. TOnight should be interesting.......
